Mountain People’s Co-Op Celebrates: As soon as the sun came out, so did the instruments! Feel-good music was provided for the Co-Op’s 45th Anniversary celebration.[/caption]
The Mountain People’s Co-Op celebrated 45 years in business with a party by the creek, where joyous music was played, a delicious variety of food was served, and the dedicated Co-Op crew, and founders, were honored.
Though the clouds grew dark and a light pattering of rain fell, it didn’t scare away any attendees of the festivities, many of whom conversed and laughed with each other out in the rain. Many more, however, huddled together under the canopies, by the tables of food provided by the Co-Op, as well as by locals who brought their favorite dishes to share.
There was food available for everyone to enjoy, from the Co-Op’s own Sloppy Joes, to amazing vegan chocolate and peanut butter cupcakes. There were also donated kegs of Knotted Root’s tasty beverages, and cold-brew coffee from Melt.
As soon as the clouds parted and blue sky reigned again, members of the community broke out their mandolins and dulcimers and played beautiful, toe-tappin’ music under the sun.
More than just a local market: Staff of the Mountain People’s Co-Op enjoyed one another’s company while waiting out the rain. [/caption]
The hard-working crew of the Co-Op sat together on the deck, enjoying one another’s company, cheering after every song. Though the anniversary party was open to the public, and to all of the Co-Op’s members, special recognition is owed to the founding partners, to General Manager Lisa Reinhart, and to all of the staff at the Co-Op for helping to forge such a strong sense of community.
Here’s to 45 more years of success for The Mountain People’s Co-Op.
