B&F Mountain Market. On September 1, 1990, brothers Dan and BJ Ball along with co-owner Bob Flick bought the City Market, located at 60 Lakeview Drive in Nederland, and named it the B & F Mountain Market, presumably after their last names, Ball and Flick.

After running the business for 33 years, Dan Ball says, “It’s a difficult business to be in. Bottom line, we are fortunate to be in an area where we have wonderful people, wonderful customers, and they’ve been very supportive over the years, and we’re just very thankful.” You can reach the B & F Mountain Market by calling 303-258-3105.

Blue Owl Books. In the spring of 2004, Kimba Stefane began managing the bookstore, (then known as Once Again Books) and bought it in the fall of 2005. She changed the name to Old Town Books, to honor the neighborhood behind it. In 2007, the name Blue Owl Books was coined and stuck.

Kimba not only sells a wide range of books but also homemade goodies, coffee, and ice cream. The handmade ice cream is made by the infamous ice cream connoisseur Tom Kinney, who has been hand-making ice cream for over 25 years.

Blue Owl Books is located at 176 Highway 119 in Nederland. Stop in for a warm cup of joe and nestle up to a good book. Visit their Facebook page at https://m.facebook.com/profile.php/?id=100046239651086 or call 303-582-3695 for more information.

Dostal Alley, located on the corner of Main and Gregory Street, is a family-owned casino and brewery in the City of Central. They have been proudly brewing their own beer since 1998 and have been in business as a casino for 32 years. Before that, the Schmalz family owned and operated a rock shop out of the location from 1958 to 1997.

Brewmasters pick and use wild hops that are found around the region. The hops were planted by local brewers in the late 1800s and have grown wild since. Their most popular brew is the Jacob Mack, an American-style Mild Ale named after a brewer from that time in Central City.

For a warm atmosphere and great beers, visit Dostal Alley located at 114 Main Street in Central City. For more information, visit https://dostalalley.com/ or call 303-582-1610.
