At the beginning of August, 2024, area local Will Shiverick began moving his business from North Boulder up the canyon into Nederland. With over 10 years of professional auto repair experience, Shiverick has brought his skills up to the Peak to Peak area, and apparently just in time.
“The phones have been ringing off the hook since I posted on Nedheads,” Shiverick told The Mountain-Ear. “We’re already booked up for like three weeks.”
Shiverick’s interest in mechanics began as a hobby, and in 2012 he pursued auto repair professionally for a career. For over a decade Mountain Auto Repair served the Boulder area, with Shiverick growing a client list of loyal customers all along the Peak to Peak highways, including Ward and Jamestown.
Now many of those customers will be traveling into Nederland, to 588 East Street, for Shiverick’s expertise in foreign and domestic vehicle diagnostics and repairs. Mountain Auto Repair offers all sorts of repair services, with specialty knowledge in Toyotas and Subarus. They can also offer RTD bus passes or space at Hub Ned for those waiting on vehicle repairs.
Over the past month Shiverick has been working on the commercial property, cleaning up and updating the space, all while moving the contents of his North Boulder location up the hill.
In addition to his equipment, Shiverick also brought with him from Boulder his dedicated lead technician, Arnulfo, who has worked with him for over 10 years. Shiverick also hired a local teenager who has a passion for mechanics.
“I always found that the best thing to do is to hire somebody who wants to learn, who is motivated, and who has a good work ethic,” Shiverick explained. “This kid – all he wants to do is work on cars. He’s going to start off on tires and oil changes, and then work up from there.
“It’ll take a couple of years but in the end you have yourself a pretty good mechanic who doesn’t have any bad habits.”
Shiverick announced on the Facebook community page for Nederland that not only was Mountain Auto Repair open for business, but a Grand Opening party was planned for Sunday, September 8, 2024.
The party will begin at 1 p.m. at The Mountain Auto Repair premises, and will feature live music from New Family Dog, brews from Knotted Root, and delicious barbeque. Be sure to stop by and celebrate a new and needed business in Nederland.
“The response from the community has been amazing,” Shiverick added. “There are all sorts of people just stopping in, not even to make an appointment, just to introduce themselves and say thank you for being here, and the town has been really easy to work with.”
Mountain Auto Repair is located at 588 East Street; for more information about their services or to make an appointment, call 303-449-0581.
