Swearing in Gilpin County Commissioner Mornis: What an incredible day it was at the Gilpin County Courthouse on Thursday, December 8. The Board swore in new Commissioner Marie Mornis, to replace Web Sill, who passed away in November. The monumental event is the first time Gilpin County has ever had three women Commissioners. One onlooker commented they could “feel the glass ceiling shattering,” as Mornis was sworn in. Mornis has been an active member of the Gilpin County Republicans and most recently served as vice-chair of the organization. PHOTO BY BARBARA HARDT[/caption]
