The internal affairs investigation regarding Deputy Filip Perry resulting from a call for service on the morning of June 25, 2023, was independently conducted by Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. At the conclusion of the investigation, he was charged with Second Degree Official Misconduct.
Through the investigation it was determined that Filip Perry violated several sheriff’s office policies, including violation of our Mission Statement, Core Values, and Vision Statement. These policies emphasize the highest level of professional law enforcement service to every member of the community. Every member of the Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office is held to the highest standards of honesty, integrity, personal accountability, and the highest level of ethical character. Filip Perry also violated the Use of Force Policy, and the Portable Audio/Video Recorders Policy.
Deputy Perry’s actions on the morning of June 25, 2023, and his following conduct did not meet the expectations of the Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office and reflected negatively on this Office, the entire law enforcement profession, and eroded public trust.
On September 14, 2023, Filip Perry was terminated from the Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office. He was advised he had seven calendar days to appeal this decision; however, he chose not to appeal.
