Highlands Camp and Retreat Center is a premier destination owned by the Presbytery of Plains and Peaks and managed by United Camps, Conferences, and Retreats (UCCR). The boundaries of the Presbytery of Plains and Peaks are the northeast portion of Colorado and the Nebraska Panhandle and include 34 churches.
The UCCR is a non-profit organization specializing in the full-service operation of camps, conferences, and retreats throughout the United States and operates/manages Highlands Camp and Retreat Center.
Year-round, Site Director James Box, is responsible for the overall management of Highlands, which offers lodging and meal service for groups as large as 327 people looking for an event location.
Though Highlands provides a housekeeping staff and maintenance services to “make sure everyone’s stay is enjoyable,” it’s important to note the groups that rent Highlands bring their own program staff. Highlands staff does, however, operate watercraft and challenge course activities.
Highlands employs a kitchen staff, retreat workers, and a remote staff that includes marketing, human resources, reservations, and accounting, making every event and booking as smooth as possible.
“We love working with guests to provide excellent hospitality. Guests love the meals, lodging, setting, cleanliness, activities, and welcoming spirit of Highlands.” Highlands will be serving more than 125 groups in 2023.
The various options, services, and location make the camp and retreat center a “unique option for large groups looking for meeting space.” They will “do everything we can to provide an excellent experience and setting for all guests staying at Highlands.”
