Dear Editor,

Tuesday, December 10, is Colorado Gives Day. We at Victory Gardens ask that you consider supporting your favorite local nonprofit organization with a donation.

At Victory Gardens, we are committed to developing local food systems by growing organic food at our garden farm in Nederland, making our produce available to the community, and helping others grow food. Our produce is available during the summer months at the Nederland Farmers Market, the Mountain People's Co-Op, and the Nederland Food Pantry.

A recent report released by the Global Commons Alliance warns that humanity is on the brink of exceeding Earth system boundaries in seven of eight fundamental categories, risking—among other things—multiple breadbasket failures and global food scarcity. (see “Safe and just Earth system boundaries” in 'Nature', May 31, 2023). Here in Nederland, we are fortunate to have three nonprofits working together to build local food security and food sovereignty: the Nederland Food Pantry, the Nederland Farmers Market, and Victory Gardens.

Please take this opportunity to recognize the important work done by nonprofits in our community. To donate, go to: www.ColoradoGives.org.
