GILPIN COUNTY - ‘Tis the season to decorate your house with pumpkins and gourds. To make the decor unique, the Gilpin County Public Library is hosting a pumpkin decorating contest. The contest started on October 1 and will run until October 27.
This event is available for all ages. It is a great craft for the family to do together. Themes for pumpkins must be a book or movie character. Carving pumpkins is not allowed due to the fact that they may not last the month that they are on display. Any medium may be used to adorn your pumpkin whether it be real, plastic, or paper mache.
Entries from previous years included themes like; Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!, “Minions,” “Lord of the Rings,” “Encanto,” and many others. The library has yet to receive their first masterpiece entry. If you and your family need a local event, the pumpkin display awaits.
Voting for a winner begins on October 28 and will be announced on October 31 at 12 p.m. Those who place will receive Amazon gift cards as prizes. First place will be given a $25 gift card. A $10 gift card will be received for 2nd and 3rd places.
I hope to create a pumpkin to enter this year. Crafting has always been a favorite activity of mine and it is inspiring to view the different techniques and ideas others exhibit, as well.
The events hosted by the library are always creative and enjoyable projects to do. If you would like to learn about more events hosted by the Gilpin County Public Library visit their homepage. https://www.gilpinlibrary.org/.
