Dear Editor,
I need to start by apologizing for not getting this request out last week. Things have been moving along so quickly. I would like to express my appreciation to everyone in our little county for always stepping up with donations at all of the food drives that we host for the Gilpin County Food Bank.
I am now asking again for donations. Donations for the Thanksgiving Holiday are down. We are lucky to have turkey, stuffing and potatoes, salad ingredients, dinner rolls, mostly covered.
We are looking for donations of butter, turkey breast, whole chickens, canned and fresh yams, olives, pickles, salad dressing, and fresh fruit. When you are out doing your last minute shopping and are able to get a few items to help brighten a neighbor's Thanksgiving meal we will accept donations until 5:00 p.m. Sunday, November 24. If no one is at the Food Pantry when you drop off donations, you can leave on the table between the front doors.
Thanks in advance for helping us be sure everybody has a dinner to be thankful for. I am thankful for being able to live in a beautiful country where residents put their differences aside to lend a helping hand to a neighbor.
Gilpin County Food Pantry, 101 Norton Drive, Black Hawk
Sincerely,
Roxy Goss
