Gilpin County Sheriff’s report: July 2023

On 7/1/23, at 3:53 p.m., Gilpin County deputies responded to the 100 block of Wallens Place, on the report of a disturbance. An incendiary device was seized and a party was jailed on a menacing charge as well as other charges. 

On 7/1/23, at approximately 7 p.m., deputies responded to a hit and run
at 116 Main Street. Deputies took statements from the victims and a report was taken. 

On 7/2/23, at approximately 5:10 p.m., a Gilpin County deputy took a report on a lost phone. 

On 7/2/23, at approximately 8:03 p.m., a deputy took a call for harassment to be handled by phone. After speaking with the reporting party on the phone, deputies responded to a private residence where a report was taken and an investigation is ongoing at this time. 

On 7/3/23, at 1:49 p.m., Gilpin County deputies were dispatched to the Z Stop gas station in reference to a disturbance in progress. 

On 7/3/23, at 4:04 p.m., an investigator was dispatched to the scene of a motor vehicle crash in Boulder County to assist with their investigation. A drug influence evaluation was conducted. 

On 7/3/23, at approximately 9:08 p.m., a deputy took a phone report of a theft. Deputies then responded to 26 Jankowski Drive to conduct an investigation. A report was taken.

On 7/5/23, at approximately 1:27 a.m., Gilpin County deputies responded to the 100 block of Forest Star Drive for a report of fireworks being set off on a porch. No suspects were located and a report was made.
On 7/3/23, at approximately 8:19 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to 104 E. 1st High Street on a report of a theft. The deputy was further advised the reporting party was not on scene and the call could be handled by phone. A report was completed.
On 7/6/23, at approximately 9:29 a.m., a Gilpin County deputy was dispatched to 405 Mammoth View Lane in reference to an alleged criminal mischief instance. A report was completed later.
On 7/6/23, at approximately 2:28 p.m., deputies were dispatched to Central City Parkway in reference to a welfare check and a report was taken. 

On 7/7/23, a deputy was dispatched to a disturbance at 250 Norton Drive in reference to a party following another party in a vehicle. Upon arrival, the deputy met with the reporting party and did not see the other vehicle. The reporting party explained it had begun in Jefferson County and they drove to the closest police station.  Upon clearing the reporting party they were found to have a warrant for their arrest out of Gilpin County. The reporting party was arrested for the warrant. 

On 7/7/23,  a deputy was dispatched to the Grand Z Casino on a report of counterfeit money. A report was made.

On 7/8/23, a deputy took a suspicious incident call where mailboxes had been
opened. Based on the investigation, it didn’t appear that mail was stolen.
On 7/9/23, at approximately 8:25 a.m., a Gilpin County deputy arrested a party on suspicion of driving under the influence at 5312 Highway 119.

On 7/9/23, at approximately 12:10 p.m., a Gilpin County deputy took a report of a dog bite that occurred on Forest Lake Trail near the East Portal at 8000 Tolland Road. 

On 7/10/23, at approximately 6:06 a.m., a Gilpin County deputy arrested a party at 488 Main Street for two felony warrants. A report was completed. 

On 7/10/23, at approximately 7 a.m., a Gilpin County deputy took a report of vandalism at the Gilpin County School. 

On 7/10/23, at approximately 12:10 p.m., a Gilpin County deputy took a report of found/stolen property at the Gilpin County Sheriff`s Office.

On 7/10/23, at approximately 3:48 p.m., deputies were dispatched to 194 Plutus Drive in
reference to a welfare check and a report was completed.

On 7/11/23, at approximately 8:46 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to 518 Old Stage Coach Trail in reference to found property and a report was completed.
On 7/11/23, at approximately 8:27 a.m., a Gilpin County deputy recovered a stolen vehicle from 440 Powder Run Drive. A report was completed. 

On 7/11/23, at approximately 8:33 a.m., deputies were dispatched to 3896 Gamble Gulch Road, in reference to a cold assault and a party was taken into custody.
On 7/11/23, dispatch received a call referencing a party wanting to turn in some property.  A deputy contacted the reporting party who resides in Gilpin County and made arrangements to pick up the property.  

On 7/12/23, at approximately 2:44 a.m., Gilpin County deputies contacted a party at the Z Stop gas station for suspicious behavior. During the contact, the party became combative and was taken into custody and was ultimately transported for medical concerns unrelated to the contact.
On 7/12/23, a deputy from the jail responded to the County court room to arrest a party on an out of county warrant. The party was escorted to the jail and booked in without incident.

On 7/12/23, at approximately 7:43 p.m., Gilpin County deputies responded to the 300 block of Chalet Drive for an assault in progress. A party was issued a citation for reckless endangerment.
On 7/13/23, at approximately 6:43 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident with injuries located at 132 Lawrence Street. A report was completed and the driver was cited. 

On 7/14/23, at approximately 4:42 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to found property located at 2960 Dory Hill Road. A report was completed. 

On 7/14/23, at approximately 7:50 p.m., deputies responded to the area of 110 Academy Street on the report of a suitcase found on a bench. Deputies responded and cleared the suitcase. The suitcase was booked in for safe keeping at the sheriff’s office.

On 7/15/23, at approximately 2:40 a.m., deputies and neighboring police agencies responded to 102 Main Street on the report of a theft. Upon arrival the suspect was no longer on scene and a report was taken.
On 7/14/23, at approximately 3:31 a.m., deputies and officers from a neighboring agency responded to 321 Gregory Street on the report of a physical disturbance. After an investigation a party was arrested on local domestic violence charges and a warrant.

On 7/16/23, at approximately 5:19 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to the Century Casino on the report of a trespass. A party was arrested and booked into the Gilpin County Jail.
On 7/16/23, at approximately 12:23 p.m., a Gilpin County deputy took a report of found property at the Gilpin County Fair at 250 Norton Drive.

On 7/16/23, at approximately 1:25 p.m., a Gilpin County deputy was dispatched to investigate a death at approximately 6022 Rollins Pass Road.

On 7/16/23, at 3:22 p.m., a deputy responded to the 200 block of Eureka Street on the report of a burglary.  Evidence was collected and a report was completed. 

On 7/17/23, at approximately 5:02 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to 2900 Lump Gulch Road, on a report of criminal mischief. A report was completed. 

On 7/18/23, at approximately 7:55 a.m., a certified VIN inspection was completed.
On 7/18/23, a deputy had an abandoned vehicle towed from the Pete Gnomes Memorial Park.

On 7/18/23, at approximately 6:08 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to 2477 S. Beaver Creek Road on a report of a dog issue. A report was completed.   

On 7/18/23, at approximately 9:24 p.m., Gilpin County deputies towed an abandoned motor vehicle from mile marker 13 on Highway 119.
On 7/19/23, at approximately 12:58 a.m., Gilpin County deputies responded to the Coyote Motel to assist Colorado State Patrol with a motor vehicle accident. A party was arrested for driving under the influence.
On 7/19/23, at approximately 1:40 p.m., an investigator took the report of an alleged fraud
via the internet at the Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office. 

On 7/19/23, a deputy was given a call in reference to a dog bite. The party who was bit did not want to pursue charges. A report was made and the case was closed. 

On 7/19/23, a deputy contacted parties that appeared to be having an argument. One party and the driver of the vehicle was later arrested for driving under the influence. The party was later released to a sober party after being issued a summons. 

On 7/20/23, at approximately 12:57 p.m., Gilpin County deputies responded to a disturbance in progress at the 7400 block of Tolland Road. A party was placed on mental health hold. 

On 7/21/23, a deputy was asked to put a briefcase into evidence for safekeeping for an individual who was remanded in court. 

On 7/21/23, a deputy took a report regarding possible criminal mischief.
On 7/21/23, at approximately 12:39 p.m., a deputy responded to a non-injury motor vehicle crash near marker 21 on Highway 119. A deer was dispatched and a report taken. 

On 7/22/23, at approximately 12:29 p.m., deputies responded to the 2600 block of Lump Gulch Road on the report of an assault.  A party was arrested and booked into the Gilpin County Jail.

On 7/22/23, at approximately 11:00 p.m., deputies conducted a traffic stop for speeding. Upon clearing the temporary tag on the vehicle it came back to a different vehicle. The temporary tag was seized and the driver of the vehicle received a ticket for the fictitious plates and speeding. 

On 7/23/23, at approximately 12:09 a.m., deputies noticed a parking violation at the 100 block of Gregory Street. Upon clearing the license plate it was found that the plates were fictitious. The plates were seized, a report was taken, and a parking citation was issued.

On 7/23/23, at approximately 2:40 p.m., a Gilpin County deputy took a report of a cold vehicle break in at 107 Main Street.

On 7/23/23, at approximately 2:45 p.m., a Gilpin County deputy took a report of a cold theft in the area of Pewabic Mountain Road and Virginia Canyon Road

On 7/24/23, a deputy discovered a lost gaming card. The gaming card was later booked into evidence and a report was taken.  

On 7/25/23, a deputy took a phone report of a possible restraining order violation.
On 7/26/23, deputies responded to the Gold Mountain Village Apartments on the report of a party walking behind the building with a rifle. Two parties were contacted and it was determined to be a BB gun.  

On 7/27/23, a deputy responded to the Central City Post Office on the report of
found property. A bicycle had been left at the property for over a week. The bicycle was recovered and booked into evidence for safe keeping. 

On 7/27/23, a party turned himself in on a warrant and was booked into the
Gilpin County Jail without incident. This case is closed by arrest.
On 7/27/23, at approximately 5:36 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to 315 Pickle Point on a report of a suspicious incident. The deputy was further advised of the incident that involved a social media post. A report was completed. 

On 7/27/23, at approximately 11:33 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to 321 Gregory Street on a report of a counterfeit $20 bill. A report was made.

On 7/28/23, at approximately 8:30 a.m., a Gilpin County deputy towed an abandoned red tagged vehicle from mile marker 4.5 on Highway 119.

On 7/28/23, at approximately 12:15 p.m., a Gilpin County deputy took a report of a cold phone harassment at 884 Stone Road.

On 7/28/23, at 8:16 p.m., a deputy took a phone report of a possible violation of a protection order which occurred in the 3800 block of Gamble Gulch Road.

On 7/28/23, at 9:06 p.m., a deputy responded to the 1400 block of High Point Circle on the report of a welfare check. Two parties were contacted, found to be ok and no criminal activity was detected.
On 7/28/23, at approximately 10:08 p.m., deputies conducted a traffic stop. A citation was issued.

On 7/28/23, at approximately 9:46 a.m., a deputy took a phone report regarding the theft of a generator.  The theft occurred at the 100 block of West Dory Way.

On 7/29/23, at approximately 10:11 p.m.,  a deputy was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident located at 132 Lawrence Street. A report was completed.

On 7/30/23, at approximately 2:12 p.m., a deputy contacted a party in the sheriff's office lobby. The party had an active warrant and was taken into custody and a report was taken. 

On 7/30/23, at approximately 2:12 p.m., a proof of service was issued to a party and a report was taken. 

On 7/30/23, at approximately 2:33 p.m., deputies, medics, fire, and Colorado
State Patrol were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash near mile marker 3 on highway 119. Colorado State Patrol arrested an individual for suspicion of driving under the influence. 

On 7/30/23, at approximately 6:24 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to 660 block of Highway 46 on a report of an accident involving alcohol. A report was completed. 

On 7/30/23, at approximately 9:35 p.m., a deputy responded to mile marker 17 on Highway 119 in Gilpin County on the report of a disturbance. Investigation revealed a male was assaulted after a road-rage incident. The suspect fled prior to the arrival of law enforcement.

On 7/31/23, at approximately 1:26 p.m., a deputy met with a party at the
Gilpin County Sheriff`s Office. A report of fraud was taken.
