Gilpin County Sheriff reports: January 2023

On 1/1/23, at approximately 1:19 a.m., a Gilpin County Sheriff deputy was dispatched to a disturbance in progress at 51 Old Stagecoach Trail, Rollinsville. Upon arrival at the location, the deputy spoke with the victim and got the pertinent information. The case is still open.

On 1/1/23, at approximately 8:45 a.m., deputies arrested a male party at the 100 block of Main Street in Black Hawk. A report was completed.

On 1/2/23, at approximately 12:26 p.m., deputies were dispatched to Karlann Drive, Gilpin County in reference to a welfare check and a report was taken. 

On 1/2/23, at approximately 2:05 p.m., a Gilpin County deputy was dispatched to the sheriff's office at 2960 Dory Hill Road. Black Hawk, to meet with a reporting party who wanted to speak to a deputy in reference to a violation of a protection order. A report was completed later. 

On 1/3/23, at approximately 12:37 a.m., a Gilpin County deputy was dispatched to the Grand Z Casino for a report of criminal mischief. A female party was arrested on warrants. 

On 1/3/23, a male party turned himself in on a warrant. The party was arrested and a report was later completed.  

On 1/4/23, at approximately 4:57 p.m., a deputy responded to the report of a violation of a protection order located in the 100 block of Rudolf Ranch Road in unincorporated Gilpin County. A report was taken.

On 1/5/23, at approximately 6:09 a.m., deputies were dispatched to 321 Gregory Street, in Central City in reference to a Drug Violation and a report was taken.

On 1/6/23, at approximately 10:38 a.m., a deputy  was dispatched to a report of a possible theft located on Robinson Hill Road, Black Hawk.

On 1/7/23, at approximately 9:20 a.m., a Gilpin County deputy arrested a male party for Harassment and Domestic Violence, at 14936 Highway 119, Black Hawk.

On 1/8/23, the Black Hawk Police Department called for emergent cover for an unruly guest at the Ameristar Casino. The male was taken into custody and booked into the Gilpin County Jail.

On 1/9/23 at approximately 11 a.m., an active, valid warrant was discovered for a person in the sheriff's office lobby. The person was arrested and processed on the warrant.

On 1/11/23, at approximately 9:19 a.m., a Gilpin County deputy was dispatched to 410 Bobtail Hill Circle, Central City, in reference to a medical call / possible overdose. A report was completed later.

On 1/11/23, at approximately 1:44 p.m., a Gilpin County deputy arrested a male party for a warrant. A report was completed later.

On 1/12/23, at approximately 5:43 a.m., a Gilpin County deputy was dispatched to mile marker 2 Central City Parkway, in reference to a Motor Vehicle Accident with property damage.

On 1/12/23, at approximately 3:46 p.m., a party came to the front lobby to turn himself in on two active warrants.

On 1/13/ 23, at approximately 4:45 a.m., deputies responded to an alleged disturbance at 410 Bobtail Hill Circle, Building 2, Central City.

On 1/13/23, at approximately 10:36 a.m., an in-custody party was booked into the Gilpin County Jail on an outstanding warrant.

On 1/13/23, at approximately 9:14 p.m., a deputy with the Gilpin County Sheriff`s Office, responded to a disturbance in progress at 109 Eureka Street, Central City.

On 1/14/23, at approximately 8:30 a.m., a Gilpin County deputy took a report of a stolen phone at the Century Casino, Central City.

On 1/14/23, at approximately 11:33 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to assist the Black Hawk Police Department with a vehicle off the roadway just outside of Black Hawk City Limits. Black Hawk Police advised the driver was possibly under the influence of alcohol.  The driver was arrested for investigation of DUI.

On 1/14/23, at approximately 1:50 p.m., a deputy took a report of Property Damage to a vehicle that may have occurred at 208 Jankowski Drive, Black Hawk.

On 1/14/23, at approximately 2:50 p.m., a female party came to the visitation window for a visit with a current inmate and was found to have an active warrant.

On 1/15/23, at approximately 9:42 a.m., a deputy was in their marked patrol vehicle performing stationary traffic enforcement in the area of mile marker 7 on the Central City Parkway. A traffic stop was conducted, and an arrest was made for a warrant. A report was completed.

On 1/15/23, at approximately 9:57 a.m., a Gilpin County deputy assisted Colorado State Patrol at mile marker 2 Highway 119, Black Hawk.

On 1/15/23, at approximately 2:30 p.m., a Gilpin County deputy arrested a male party for a Douglas County warrant at 102 Main Street, Central City.

On 1/16/23, at approximately 1:18 a.m., a deputy with the Gilpin County Sheriff`s Office assisted Boulder with a disturbance at 41 Wonderland Avenue, Boulder County. Upon investigation, the deputy found that the disturbance was in Gilpin County, and a report was made.

On 1/16/23, at 2:31 a.m., a party called in and reported that her stolen vehicle was being tracked to the area of the 19000 block of Highway 119, unincorporated Gilpin County. Deputies responded to the area and located the vehicle traveling south on Highway 119 near Highway 46. A deputy attempted to get close enough to attempt a traffic stop but the vehicle fled. No pursuit was initiated.

On 1/16/23, at approximately 10:45 a.m., a male party came to bond a male party housed in the jail. During the process it was discovered the male inmate had another warrant out of the Denver Marshal's Office. The inmate was booked in without incident.

On 1/16/23, at 4:52 p.m., a deputy responded to the 100 block of Lawrence Street, Central City, on the report of a hit and run traffic accident which occurred in a parking garage. A report was taken.

On 1/17/23, at approximately 6:55 a.m., a Gilpin County deputy arrested a female party on two warrants, on Dory Hill Road, Black Hawk, unincorporated Gilpin County. A report was completed later.

On 1/19/23, at approximately 6:09 a.m., deputies were dispatched to Dory Hill Road, City of Black Hawk, in reference to a protection order violation. A report was taken.

On 1/19/23, at 5:21 p.m., a deputy met with two citizens regarding a traffic complaint which occurred in the 200 block of Norton Drive. A report was taken.

On 1/20/23, at approximately 12:42 p.m., a Gilpin County deputy was dispatched to 321 Gregory Street, Central City, in reference to an alleged criminal mischief. A report was completed later.

On 1/21/23, a deputy assisted CSP with a suspicious vehicle. The driver was arrested for suspicion of DUI. A report was made.

On 1/21/23, at approximately 1:50 p.m., at Apex Road and Highway 119 Black Hawk, a Gilpin County deputy arrested a male party on a felony warrant out of Mesa County.

On 1/21/23, a male was arrested by deputies for domestic violence and 3rd degree assault. He was booked into the Gilpin County Jail without issue.

On 1/22/23, at approximately 10:30 a.m., a male party was cited for trespassing at  approximately the 5000 Block on the Central City Parkway.

On 1/23/23, at approximately 9:50 a.m., a Gilpin County deputy towed an abandoned vehicle from Highway 119 and Apex Road.

On 1/24/23, a vehicle failed to yield to deputies. The driver was not caught.

On 1/24/23, a deputy was assisting CSP with a MVA when the deputy began looking for the driver of the crashed vehicle. Another vehicle was stopped as the driver was the owner of the crashed vehicle. Driver was later arrested for investigation of driving under the influence.

On 1/24/23, at approximately 6:09 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 600 block of Highway 46, Black Hawk, in reference to a disturbance. A male party was arrested and a report was completed.

On 1/25/23, deputies responded to a suspicious party on Old Hughesville Road, taking photos of the reporting party’s house. A report was completed.

On 1/26/23, at 12:08 p.m., a Colorado Parks and  Wildlife Ranger attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle at the 4000 block of Highway 119, unincorporated Gilpin County, but the vehicle failed to yield.

On 1/28/23, at approximately 4:20 p.m., a deputy responded to the report of a theft which had occurred at the Grand-Z Casino in Central City. A report was taken.

On 1/28/23, at approximately 9:05 p.m., a deputy stopped to assist a trooper from the Colorado State Patrol on a traffic stop in the parking lot of the Coyote Motel which is located at 5312 Highway 119, unincorporated Gilpin County. An adult female was arrested on an outstanding warrant by the Colorado State Patrol. A report was taken.

On 1/30/23, at approximately 12:32 p.m., a Gilpin County deputy was dispatched to Golden Leaf Way, Black Hawk, unincorporated Gilpin County, in reference to a possible fraud/theft. A report was completed later.

On 1/30/23, at approximately 2:36 p.m., a deputy responded to a call of a disturbance located at Coyote Liquors, Black Hawk. A report was completed.

On 1/31/23, at approximately 10 a.m., a deputy was releasing an inmate on a PR bond, and found the inmate had three new warrants out of another county. The inmate was rebooked in on the out of county warrants without incident.

On 1/31/23, at approximately 3:15 p.m., Gilpin County deputies were dispatched to 321 Gregory Street, Central City, in reference to a disturbance in progress. A report was later completed.

On 1/31/23, a deputy took a phone report regarding a potential harassment. It was determined no crime had taken place.
