Just as a breath of fresh air can rejuvenate, so does Tina Ramos rejuvenate one’s hair with her line of organic, chemical free products. She is an artist of color and cut.

Ramos started her adult life as a pharmacy tech. Making smart investments, she got a return on her money and decided she wanted to do something new. When she was 13, she had gotten a perm at the hair salon, and after that held on to the dream of being a hairstylist. Now as an adult, Ramos had two options to follow her dreams, become a hot air balloon pilot or a hair stylist. She wanted something that would bring her fulfillment to take home every day.

While attending a Redken-based school, Ramos discovered the intricate chemistry of color which Redken specializes in. She obtained cosmetology and barber degrees and licenses. After graduation she was employed at a salon in the Denver area.

In almost a one day decision, the idea of a salon in Coal Creek was born. She had been frustrated that her life was up here and not down in town. Ramos loves life in the Canyon. So over a week her household and friends helped her build a salon in the empty space next to Coal Creek Coffee. Their only desire was to see Ramos happy.

Ramos had actually come home for work one day and her husband had a name for the salon, a friend thought adding an “e” at the end of “air” would make it special. Then another day she came home to find her husband had designed the logo – air moving through the mountains. So the wannabe hot air balloon pilot could express both her dreams of being up in the flowing air stream and styling hair.

Her product is what sets her apart from any competition. The salon sells and uses the all-natural Surface brand whose motto is “beauty with a conscience”. They provide forest reforestation through the Arbor Day Foundation and sponsor World Vision Children. The products are cruelty free, paraben-free, gluten-free, sulfate free, vegan and use organic ingredients. They also provide education for their salons. Ramos will be going to Orlando this fall to expand her education. She uses Pulp Riot which is ammonia and gluten-free for her colors and provides the best gray coverage. Redken is still her choice for toners due to the quality and diligence they have used in having a top-of-the-line product.
