Central City’s Halloween Spooktacular: This first time event will be sure to entertain all ages! Central City’s Main Street will be brilliantly transformed into a Victorian haunted village. There will be a performance of “Thriller” in the streets as well as delicious witchy concoctions being served. The adults can enjoy pop-up bars and Halloween-themed cocktails while the kids trick or treat. 6 to 9 p.m. Admission is free.

Halloween Party for the Nederland Food Pantry: We are conjuring up some Halloween fun at the Very Nice Brewery in Nederland. Bewitching surprises await as you wander in while the little ghouls and goblins roam the streets in search of treats. Join us for a hauntingly good time and unearth the spooktacular activities we have prepared – Costume Contest, Scavenger Hunt, and more! We eagerly await your presence! 5 to 8 p.m. at Very Nice Brewery in Nederland located at 20 Lakeview Drive. 

Halloween, Burgers and Beers: Knotted Root is throwing a Roaring 20s-themed costume party! Mama Roo’s Food Truck will be slinging burgers and Dan Buller’s Dixieland Trio will be providing tunes. 2 - 8 p.m. at Knotted Root located at 250 North Caribou Street in Nederland. 

Friday, November 1

Children’s Storytime: Stories! Song! Movement! Music! Play! Every Friday morning from 10:15 to 11:30 a.m. we hold storytimes for ages 0 to 4 years old. From 10:15 to 10:45 a.m. we read books, sing songs, learn some ASL, and get the wiggles out! From 10:45 to 11:30 a.m. we have free play, bring out the toys and bubbles and get to know other kids, parents and caregivers. Meet in the Community Room at the Nederland Community Library located at 200 Highway 72. 

CCCIA Open Mic: Show off your talents at the Coal Creek Canyon Improvement Open Mic. Folks are welcome to perform through music, song, poetry, comedy, stories, and more! Hosts Norma and Adrian provide snacks and great energy. Time slots go from 7 to 9 p.m. Sign up at www.coalcreekcanyon.org/open-mic-sign-up

Mountain Pine Beetle Workshop: Have you noticed dead or dying pine trees on your property? Are you concerned about the current mountain pine beetle infestation? Join us for a free workshop! CSU Extension Director and Educator Jennifer Cook and Kelby Woodard of the Clear Creek Watershed and Forest Health Partnership will guide participants in tree identification, recognizing the signs of beetle infestations, best practices in infestation management, and more. Chocolate Caliente Story Time: Join us for delicious Mexican hot chocolate! Enjoy sipping and listening while we read children’s books in Spanish. You can also craft a simple Dia de los Muertos Paper Mask or take it home with you to decorate later. 4 to 5 p.m. at the Nederland Community Library located at 200 Highway 72. 

Sugarloaf Craft Fair: A benefit for the Sugarloaf Fire Department. See fine handmade crafts, enjoy home baked goods, and participate in a silent auction! 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Fire Station 2 located at 1360 Sugarloaf Road.  

Monday, November 4

Nederland Writers: Bring something you are working on to share and get feedback on or join the group to listen in and hone your skills. Area writers gather at Nederland Community Library located at 200 Highway 72 every Monday from 1 to 3 p.m. For more information, visit https://nederland.libcal.com.

The Mountain Meditation Circle: A free and open group that has been meeting every Monday evening at 6 p.m. for the last four years at Gilpin County Public Library. New participants are always welcome. New members will need to provide their contact information prior to attending their first meeting. Wild Bear Story Time: We will read books, sing songs, play, and move together, all while fostering early ecological literacy. Join us for fun, friends and community! 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at 20 Lakeview Drive in Nederland. 

STEAM Club: Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math activities hosted for kids grades 1-4 at the Nederland Community Library. Club meets every Tuesday through the end of October. There will be a shuttle running directly from Nederland Elementary to the Library after school and the meeting ends at 5 p.m. Register at https://nederland.libcal.com

Wednesday, November 6

Just-For-Fun Fall Kids’ Talent Show: We invite kids to come on out and share their talents, skills, and passions! Each child will have up to 3 minutes to perform a song, dance, or routine; tell a joke; share a poem; etc. Age groups are 2-5 years old, and 5-8 years old. This fun evening will be hosted by the wonderful Gala, and all participants win a prize and certificate! Starts at 5 p.m. at the Nederland Community Library. Veteran’s BBQ: Celebrate Veterans at the Gilpin County Veterans BBQ. 12 - 2 p.m. at the Gilpin County Community Center located at 250 Norton Drive in Black Hawk. 

Sunday, November 10

Pie Contest: Enter your best pie in this co-fundraiser pie contest for the Nederland Food Pantry and Nederland Community Library. Delicious pies and friendly competition, all for a great cause!
