Mayor Jeremy Fey called the Central City Council regular meeting to order at exactly 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2, 2023. In attendance were Mayor Jeremy Fey, Alderman Jeff Aiken, Alderman Marcia Enloe, Alderman Todd Williams, and Mayor Pro-tem Kara Tinucci. Staff present included City Manager Daniel R. Miera, City Attorney Marcus McCaskin, City Clerk Reba Bechtel, Utility Director Jack Beard, and Community Development Director Lisa Roemhildt.
There were no amendments or conflicts with the agenda.
The Consent Agenda included the Regular Bill lists through April 25; the City Council minutes from April 18; and Resolution No. 23-17, approving a Memorandum of Agreement with the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment, Division of Oil and Public Safety, related to the Regulation of Conveyances.
Tinucci made a motion to approve the Consent Agenda. The motion was seconded and all were in favor.
There was no public comment.
The first action item of new business was Resolution No. 23-16, a resolution of the City Council of the City of Central, Colorado, authorizing the acquisition of a utility terrain vehicle (UTV) for the Central City Public Utilities Department.
Beard approached the stand and explained that this resolution, if authorized, would allow the acquisition of a new UTV, the primary use of which would be to access intake structures, storage reservoirs, and side streets.
He said, “Think of it like a mini truck, equipped with a six-foot bed.”
He received three quotes and visited dealerships.
Williams moved to adopt the resolution.
Tinucci asked what the department is currently using. Beard replied the current vehicle has very high miles and is getting less serviceable.
This vehicle is also occasionally outfitted with a snow plow for snow removal as well.
Williams inquired on whether or not this expense was foreseen in the budget.
Beard replied in the affirmative that they budgeted $40,000 for the purchase of this vehicle.
All were in favor of the resolution.
During Staff Updates, Mayor Fey mentioned that he and Miera will be attending a meeting with their equals in Black Hawk to discuss housing in their joint communities, which he hopes bears fruit.
There were no council comments or public comments.
At 7:14 p.m. Fey adjourned the meeting.
The next Central City Council meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. on May 16, 2023, at Central City Hall, 141 Nevada Street, second floor; or online via Zoom. Information can be found on the City website, centralcity.colorado.gov/ meetings.
