Black Hawk Police reports: February 2023

On 2/1/23, at approximately 7:02 a.m., Black Hawk officers contacted a suspicious person at the Horseshoe Casino who had reportedly left property thrown about by the benches in the valet lot. A male party was contacted, asked to leave the property, and given a courtesy transport to Idaho Springs per his request.

On 2/1/23, at approximately 10:03 p.m., officers responded to the Monarch Casino, on a report of an assault. An investigation was done, and the assault was unfounded.

On 2/1/23, an officer responded to mile marker 3.2 on Highway 119 to assist the Gilpin Sheriff's Office on the report of a non-injury accident involving a truck vs. the mountainside. One suspect was arrested for DUI.

On 2/2/23, at about 4:05 a.m., Black Hawk officers were confronted by a disorderly subject from a prior call at the Ameristar. The suspect refused commands to leave the area and was arrested for assault on a peace officer and resisting. The suspect was jailed on those charges.

On 2/2/23, at approximately 8:16 p.m., Black Hawk Police officers conducted a routine traffic stop on a white Ford F-150 on Highway 119 at mile marker 5.8. The male suspect was later arrested for warrants.

On 2/2/23, officers were at the Monarch Casino when Monarch staff asked for Black Hawk Police Department assistance to escort a male party from a gaming table. The male party walked away, but then came back and got into one of the staff's faces. The male party was met by officers as they tried to separate the two parties. However, the male party pushed the officer’s hand away in an aggressive manner as the officers were giving the party lawful orders. The male party was placed under arrest and a report was taken

On 2/3/23, officers responded to the Horseshoe Casino on an unlabeled prescription bottle containing pills in a hotel room. The pills were logged in for destruction.

On 2/3/23, at 2:58 p.m., officers responded to the Lodge Casino on the report of found narcotics. A male suspect was located and released on a summons.

On 2/3/23, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Black Hawk Police officers responded to the Z-Stop Gas Station to assist Gilpin County Sheriff’s officers on a report of a disturbance. Black Hawk officers were first on the scene and the suspect and victim had already left. All information gathered by Black Hawk officers was passed on to Gilpin County Sheriff’s officers.

On 2/4/23, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Black Hawk Police officers conducted a routine traffic stop on a black 2007 Chevy Silverado with no plates. The suspect was released and given a Gilpin County summons.

On 2/4/23, officers responded to the Bally's parking garage in reference to a physical altercation between a female and male party. The female party was arrested on the charge of 3rd Degree Assault (Domestic Violence). She was transported to the Gilpin County Jail and a report was taken.

On 2/4/23, a folded-up bundle of cash ($231) was located on the ground of the Bally's parking lot located at 4 a.m. by officers clearing the scene of another call. It is unknown who the money belongs to, and there is no camera coverage for review in that area. The money was booked in as found property.

On 2/4/23, the Black Hawk Police Department responded to the Lodge Casino on a report of a fake identification that had been presented earlier in the day. The fake identification was seized and a report was taken.

On 2/4/23, the Black Hawk Police Department responded to a report of a counterfeit bill located at the Gilpin Casino. A male and female suspect were identified and contacted. A report was taken.

On 2/4/23, at approximately 6:30 p.m., Black Hawk Police officers were on their routine walk through the Monarch Casino when Monarch Security asked them for assistance with a physical disturbance. Black Hawk officers concluded that the physical disturbance was unfounded and no crime was committed.

On 2/5/23, Black Hawk officers were approached by a male reporting damaged property at the Monarch Casino. Officers took a report and are no longer active due to the party not wanting to file charges.

On 2/5/23, Black Hawk police officers responded to the Horseshoe on a theft of a wallet. The suspect was identified and contacted. The wallet was returned and the suspect was issued a summons for Theft Generally.

On 2/5/23, at approximately 7 p.m., Black Hawk Police Department was dispatched to the Monarch Casino on the report of a lost/stolen cell phone. A suspect was identified and an investigation is currently pending.

On 2/5/23, at approximately 10:55 p.m., the Adams County Sheriff alerted Black Hawk Police Department of a cold assault that occurred at the Monarch Casino. The victim was contacted and a suspect was identified and issued a warrant.

On 2/6/23, Black Hawk Fire Department responded to a call of a fire alarm at the Lady Luck parking garage. The Black Hawk Police Department was called to the scene when it was determined that someone had pulled the alarm and broken a smoke detector in a stairwell. No suspect was identified.

On 2/6/23, an officer received a phone report for a possible fraud issue, at the Ameristar Casino. A report was taken.

On 2/6/23, at approximately 6:35 p.m., officers made contact with a party sleeping in their vehicle on level 4 of the Ameristar Casino parking garage. The party was arrested on a warrant and brought to the jail.

On 2/7/23, at approximately 10:04 p.m., officers responded to 488 Main Street on a report of a trespass. The suspect was contacted, issued a summons, and released.

On 2/7/23, at approximately 10:22 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Lodge Casino on a report of a highly intoxicated party refusing to leave. During the contact the suspect ran and struck an officer. The suspect was subdued by a Taser and later transported to Lutheran Hospital.

On 2/8/23, an officer with the Black Hawk Police Department responded to the Lodge Casino and found drug paraphernalia. The suspect was no longer on the property. The items were booked into evidence for destruction.

On 2/8/23, an officer responded to the Monarch valet for a property damage issue. A report was taken.

On 2/8/23, a police officer with the Black Hawk Police Department responded to the Horseshoe Casino on a report of an 86ed party on the property. Casino staff wanted to press charges and the female party was issued a summons for trespassing.

On 2/8/23, at approximately 2:30 p.m., officers were approached while they were on a walk of the Ameristar Casino and made aware of a male patron harassing a casino worker. An investigation was conducted and the suspect was given a summons.

On 2/8/23, at approximately 10:12 p.m., Black Hawk officers were dispatched to the Monarch Casino on a report of found drugs. There was no suspect information. Black Hawk officers seized the drugs and have booked it for destruction.

On 2/9/23, Black Hawk Police officers were dispatched to the Lodge Casino on a report of a found jacket with paraphernalia and a stolen financial transaction device. A summons was issued.

On 2/9/23, at approximately 6:27 a.m., an officer responded to the area of the Lady Luck Casino on a report of a stolen vehicle. The suspect was located and later booked into the Gilpin County Jail.

On 2/9/23, at approximately 5 p.m., Black Hawk Police officers responded to the Lodge Casino’s bus drop off on a report of a hit and run. Officers were able to identify the suspect and the investigation is pending.

On 2/10/23, at approximately 12:15 p.m., Black Hawk Police officers conducted a routine traffic stop on Main Street just across the Lady Luck parking garage with a black Chevrolet Cruze bearing no plates. The driver of the Chevy Cruze was later released on a summons.

On 2/10/23, a Black Hawk officer responded to the Horseshoe Casino on a report of a lost wallet. Officers contacted the owner and took a report. The wallet has not been recovered.

On 2/10/23, at approximately 11:48 a.m., an officer responded to the Ameristar Casino on a report of someone calling and harassing an employee at the casino.

On 2/10/23, the Black Hawk Police Department responded to a report of found drugs in a hotel room. The substance was seized and booked for destruction. No suspect has been identified.

On 2/11/23, at approximately 2:03 a.m., Black Hawk officers were dispatched to a physical disturbance at the Monarch Casino. Officers located the male party inside the Horseshoe Casino parking garage and the female outside the Monarch. Officers booked the male into Gilpin County Jail on domestic violence-related charges.

On 2/11/23, the Black Hawk Police Department conducted a welfare check on a male party slumped over in a vehicle at the Lady Luck Casino parking garage. The male was wanted on outstanding warrants and was in possession of drugs and credit cards that did not belong to him. The male was arrested and transported to the Gilpin County Jail.

On 2/11/23, an officer responded to the Horseshoe Casino on the report of a hit-and-run incident. A suspect was issued a summons for the hit and run.

On 2/11/23, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Black Hawk Police officers responded to the Peak to Peak Convenience Store on a report of a found firearm. Black Hawk officers seized the weapon and booked it into evidence for safekeeping.

On 2/11/23, officers responded to the Monarch Casino on the report of an intoxicated party refusing to leave. One suspect was arrested for obstruction of justice and disorderly conduct.

On 2/12/23, officers responded to the Lady Luck Casino in regards to a theft. The suspect was not on the scene and follow-up is required for this incident. A report was taken.

On 2/12/23, an officer responded to the Lady Luck parking garage, for a vehicle break-in incident. A report was taken.

On 2/12/23, at approximately 11:30 a.m., Black Hawk Police officers were conducting a garage check with the automatic license plate reader and came across a stolen plate affixed to a Suzuki SUV. The vehicle was unoccupied and the plate was seized. A report was taken.

On 2/12/23, an officer received a phone report on possible stolen sunglasses that occurred on 2/10/23. The surveillance video was inconclusive. This case will remain inactive at this time due to a lack of evidence and further leads.

On 2/13/23, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Black Hawk police officers responded to the Lodge Casino on the report of a stolen wallet. Surveillance backtracked the suspect who stole the wallet; however they were unable to identify them. A report was taken.

On 2/13/23, at approximately 2:36 p.m., officers took a phone report from a male party who advised a homeless person whom he didn't know was invited into his room and his ring was now missing. He waited seven days to report and reported after he invited her into his room again and his debit card went missing. The female is unidentified at this point and officers are unable to locate her. A report was taken.

On 2/13/23, at approximately 11 p.m., Black Hawk Police officers were on the scene at the Horseshoe Casino when the report of several fire alarms being activated was dispatched. The suspect was identified, cited, and released on scene.

On 2/13/23, at approximately 10:41 pm, Black Hawk officers were dispatched to the Horseshoe Casino on a report of an intoxicated male party who was refusing to leave. Officers contacted the male party and got him to agree to go up to a room that he was staying in. Believing that the situation was solved, officers cleared the call. Officers were then dispatched again for the same male party making a disturbance in the valet area. The male party was charged and transported by Gilpin ambulance for a detox hold.

On 2/14/23, an officer with the Black Hawk Police Department took a phone report on a lost driver's license.

On 2/14/23, at approximately 4:32 p.m., officers responded to the Lodge Casino, on a report of a harassment call. The suspect has not been identified.

On 2/14/23, at approximately 9:05 p.m., an officer responded to the Ameristar Hotel, on a report of a stolen bag. The suspect was found later and issued a summons.

On 2/14/23, at approximately 10 p.m., Black Hawk Police officers were dispatched to 111 Richman on the report of a purse theft. Upon arrival, surveillance identified the suspect, who was no longer on the scene. The purse was later found in the women's restroom with nothing missing. The case was referred to the Division of Gaming due to a credit theft occurring involving the same victim.

On 2/15/23, at approximately 4:37 a.m., Black Hawk Police Department was dispatched to the Lady Luck parking garage on the call of a male urinating outside of the Ameristar Casino. The male party was contacted by Black Hawk officers via phone and will be issued a citation.

On 2/15/23, officers contacted a known suspect that had a warrant out for their arrest. An arrest was made and a report was taken.

On 2/16/23, at approximately 12:25 a.m., Black Hawk officers were dispatched to the Monarch Casino on a report of found drugs. Officers arrived on scene and were informed that surveillance had no suspect. The drugs were seized and booked into evidence.

On 2/16/23, at approximately 1 p.m., officers responded to the Monarch Casino on the report of a counterfeit bill. A male party was contacted and a counterfeit $100 bill was recovered.

On 2/16/23, at approximately 7:50 p.m., Black Hawk Police officers initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of Miners Road and Main Street for a vehicle with no plates. One suspect was later arrested for an outstanding warrant.

On 2/17/23, at approximately 11:55 p.m., Black Hawk Police officers responded to the Monarch Casino on a report of a found controlled substance. Officers later found the owner of the controlled substance and issued her a summons.

On 2/17/23, officers responded to the Monarch Casino on the report of a possible physical disturbance between a male and female. The male had a laceration to the head. The female was arrested for third-degree assault (DV).

On 2/17/23, the Black Hawk Police Department responded to a report of a single-vehicle accident in the 1500 block of Lake Gulch Road. The male driver of the vehicle was not injured and was issued a citation for careless driving.

On 2/17/23, a detective responded to the Horseshoe Casino on the report of found drugs inside one of the hotel rooms. There is suspect information.

On 2/17/23, at approximately 7:47 a.m., officers responded to the Horseshoe Casino on a report of a noise complaint inside a hotel room. The suspect was contacted and 86ed from the casino.

On 2/17/23, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Black Hawk Police officers responded to 121 Marchant Street on a report of a water leak. Officers assisted Black Hawk Fire in opening the door to the house to stop the leak. The water was later turned off.

On 2/18/23, an officer assisted the Division of Gaming with locating a party involved in a theft of gaming chips.

On 2/18/23, officers responded to the Monarch Casino on the report of a physical disturbance between two males. The males were contacted, and neither wanted to press charges. A report was taken.

On 2/18/23, officers responded to the Monarch parking garage located at 488 Main Street on the report of a private property crash.

On 2/18/23, an officer responded to level six of the Ameristar Garage on the report of a non-injury accident. The suspect was the reporting party.

On 2/18/23, Black Hawk officers received a call about a suicidal party who may possibly have been en route to Ameristar Casino. The party was located in a different city.

On 2/19/23, at approximately 9 p.m., Black Hawk officers were dispatched to Bally's East on a report of a male party urinating in public. Officers reviewed surveillance footage and then contacted the male suspect and issued him a municipal summons.

On 2/19/23, at approximately 10:36 p.m., Black Hawk Police officers were dispatched to the Monarch parking garage on a cold hit-and-run that occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. Black Hawk officers were able to identify the suspect vehicle and locate the driver at the Horseshoe Casino where a citation was served.

On 2/20/23, at approximately 12:45 a.m., Black Hawk officers were dispatched to the Ameristar Casino on a report of a 4-5 year old child left in a room and was all by itself. Officers arrived on scene and contacted the father and were informed that his oldest daughter was in the room and fell asleep, at that point his youngest daughter was able to open the hotel door and leave the room. Officers spoke to both the father and oldest daughter and determined there was no child neglect.

On 2/20/23, at approximately 12:53 a.m., Black Hawk Police officers were dispatched to Monarch Casino on the report of a verbal disturbance occurring between three male parties on the gaming floor. Upon arrival, two male parties were gone, however, the third wanted to file a report for harassment. A police report was taken.

On 2/20/23, at approximately 12:40 a.m., Black Hawk officers were responding to a call at the Monarch Casino when a Gilpin County deputy transferred custody of a found Colorado ID card. Black Hawk officers booked the ID into safekeeping.

On 2/20/23, at approximately 2:59 a.m., Black Hawk officers were dispatched to the Monarch Casino on a report of a trespassed party in the poker room. Officers contacted the male party and informed him that he was trespassed. Officers issued him a summons for trespass and escorted the male party off the property.

On 2/20/23, at 2:51 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the Lodge Casino, for a theft incident. No suspect(s) could be identified. A report was taken.

On 2/21/23, at approximately 5:06 a.m., Black Hawk Police officers were dispatched to the Lodge Casino on the report of a damaged ATM machine with the suspect no longer on the property. The case is open and an investigation is pending.

On 2/21/23, at approximately 2:50 p.m., an officer responded to the Monarch Casino on the report of found property in one of the hotel rooms. The item was retrieved and booked into evidence.

On 2/22/23, at approximately 3:15 a.m., Black Hawk officers were dispatched to the Ameristar Casino on a report of a wallet theft. Officers arrived on scene and spoke to the owner of the wallet to take his statement. Officers were informed that the suspect was no longer on scene. The case is active.

On 2/22/23, a detective responded with other officers to the Gilpin County School, to assist with the report of an armed party in or near the school. Officers remained to assist until all students and staff were evacuated and the school was cleared.

On 2/22/23, officers responded to the Ameristar Casino on the report of a lost wallet. The wallet is still missing, and the investigation is ongoing pending further follow-up with surveillance.

On 2/22/23, an officer responded to the Lodge Casino on the report of a theft. The victim had a warrant for failure to appear on DUI charges and was arrested and taken to Gilpin County Jail.

On 2/22/23, Black Hawk officers responded to the 500 block of Gregory Street in Central City to assist the Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office with an arrest. Gilpin County Sheriffs took one female into custody on warrants.

On 2/23/23, Black Hawk officers were dispatched to the Monarch Casino on a report of a female maced and robbed. Officers investigated and are working to identify the suspect at this time. The case is still active.

On 2/23/23, an officer responded to the Bull Durham Casino on the report of a party distributing psychedelic mushrooms.The suspect was released pending charges.

On 2/23/23, at approximately 9:20 p.m., Black Hawk Police officers were conducting a License Plate Reader Sweep through the Ameristar garage. Officers later found a stolen vehicle and the vehicle was towed so the owners can pick it up at a later date.

On 2/24/23, the Black Hawk Police Department was dispatched to a recovered stolen plate on a Bally's North employee's vehicle. The vehicle was parked in the Bally's parking garage at 255 Main Street. The investigation revealed this occurred in Lakewood, where an unknown suspect(s) stole the employee's license plate and replaced it with the plate from a stolen vehicle. The plate was recovered and the case is referred to Lakewood PD.

On 2/24/23, the Black Hawk Police Department received a call about a cold hit-and-run accident at the Ameristar Casino parking garage on or between 2/18/23 - 2/19/23. There is possible suspect information in this case and it is being investigated.

On 2/24/23, at approximately 7:50 p.m., Black Hawk Police officers responded to the Monarch Casino on a report of a party using narcotics. Two individuals were later arrested for distribution charges.

On 2/24/23, officers took a phone report regarding a party who thought she was drugged while gambling. A report was taken and investigation is ongoing.

On 2/25/23, officers responded to the Lodge Casino to assist the Department of Gaming. A female was arrested for warrants.

On 2/25/23, officers responded to the Horseshoe Casino in regard to a trespassed party. Officers made an arrest due to warrants and a report was taken.

On 2/25/23, at approximately 7:20 p.m., Black Hawk Police officers were responding to the Bull Durham Casino until a known female party with outstanding warrants was spotted at the Lady Luck garage entrance. The female party was later arrested for those outstanding warrants.

On 2/26/23, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Black Hawk Police officers responded to the Horseshoe Casino for an Assault. Officers arrested a male party but later determined no crime was committed and released the male party.

On 2/26/23, officers responded to the Wild Card Casino in regard to a harassment incident. A summons was served and a report was taken.

On 2/26/23, at approximately 6:24 p.m., officers responded to the Monarch Casino on a report of a theft. Officers are still trying to identify the male suspect.

On 2/27/23, at approximately 2:01 a.m., Black Hawk officers were dispatched to the Ameristar Casino on a report of a theft from a hotel room. Officers arrived on scene and spoke to the victim who stated that money and a watch were stolen from the room. The victim was able to provide suspect information and said that the suspect was no longer on scene. The suspect was contacted the next day and denied taking the watch and believed that the victim had reported the theft to get her in trouble for leaving him in Black Hawk. The victim was contacted and he stated the watch was not stolen and found in a drawer in the hotel room. The victim denied making the theft accusation to get the suspect in trouble. The case was closed as there was not enough evidence to prove either crime.

On 2/27/23, at approximately 3:11 a.m., the Black Hawk Police Department was dispatched to the Monarch Casino on the report of damaged property caused by a trespassed party. A male party was located at the Ameristar Casino and issued a municipal ticket for the property damage.

On 2/27/23, at approximately 11:30 a.m., Black Hawk police were dispatched to the Ameristar Casino on the report of a physical disturbance. Upon arrival and further investigation, one of the male individuals involved was cited for harassment. A report was completed.

On 2/27/23, an officer responded to Bally's North Casino for found ammunition. The item was collected and marked for destruction. A report was taken.

On 2/28/23, at approximately 12:15 a.m., the Black Hawk Police Department was dispatched to the Monarch Casino on the report of a male party causing a disturbance in the 24/7 diner and not paying for his meal. Upon arrival, Black Hawk Police officers cited the male for theft, and the male party was trespassed and escorted off the property.

On 2/28/23, at approximately 9:23 a.m., officers responded to the 300 block of Chase Street on a suspicious person in a red sleeping bag sleeping in the trees. Officers arrived on scene and rendered aid. The male subject ended up having a warrant and officers attempted to apprehend him. The subject fought officers and ended up having to go into restraints. He was booked into the jail for his warrant, resisting arrest, and obstructing a peace officer.

On 2/28/23, an officer received a phone report at the Black Hawk Police Department, of a hit-and-run incident, at the Horseshoe Casino parking garage.
