Students and parents were warmly welcomed by the Panther Parents (PTA) when they came through the doors at Nederland Middle-Senior High School (NMSHS) at Back to School Night 2024 on August 19. Panther Parents prepared a joyous repast of pizza, appetizers, and desserts for everyone.
There was a buzz in the room as parents greeted each other after the summer holiday. In this small community, many families already knew each other, and were ready to engage in an exciting new year. The parents were encouraged to join the PTA and become involved in the school community in some way.
NMSHS Principal Gavan Goodrich met with the middle school families before he met with high school families. He stressed the importance of the whole family being involved: it is important for the students, the parents, and the community as a whole. In a small school, being involved is vital to its success.
Parents then followed their students’ schedule and met with their kids’ teachers in their classrooms. Each teacher gave a brief synopsis of the work to be expected in the semester or year ahead.
There was a bright and positive energy coming from the students, staff, and parents at NMSHS. It looks to be a very exciting start to the 2024-2025 school year!
