An unaffiliated voter for Marshall

Dear Editor,

I’m an unaffiliated / Independent voter and I noticed a letter in your paper challenging residents to research their candidates and specifically Mr. Marshall's past and his qualifications. I took the challenge and did my research. After vetting all candidates, including Mr. Marshall, I am truly impressed with his past and his business experience and find him to be the most qualified Commissioner candidate to lead Gilpin.

I was particularly interested to find that while the prior letter concluded that Marshall was a small business owner, the truth is that Marshall was a successful large business Executive for Ford Motor Company, Coors, & Molson Coors for much of his career. He also was and is a successful entrepreneur, starting and selling numerous successful businesses. I was really surprised that since his businesses were very important and newsworthy, there is an abundance of news history on his accomplishments and any challenges that his businesses faced. Interesting that if you read the actual news, none of those articles say what the previous letter writer tried to conclude. He was just twisting things for a political end.

To gain more insight on some of the articles, I was able to speak with Marshall and he was open and honest in answering any questions. Once I got even more background from Marshall, I was convinced – He is the real deal, and the Candidate I want for Commissioner. What I discovered is that Marshall is the Commissioner who has been there and lived it. He has taken calculated risks in the real world and has had huge success and many challenges but entered the arena and succeeded. This is what we need in a commissioner! Someone who will lead with confidence, competence, and courage…..Someone who will lead with effectiveness and efficiency like you do in a business.

I don’t follow any political party, but I am 100% voting for Marshall.

 Sincerely,

Carmell Dickson

Gilpin County
