Eldora, Colorado, has a history as vast as its hiking trails and skiing opportunities. In the image, we see the town of Eldora depicted in an old postcard. Eldora was first settled by the Arapaho and Ute people who used the area for hunting during summer.
When the indigenous cultures of Eldora were removed, Eldora was built as a mining town, including the Eldora Post Office, housed inside Home Owned Stores. One of the first cabins on Eldora Avenue was the old Mayhoffer home, famous for bootleg booze, and one of the local lodges.
The Gold Miner Hotel was built in 1898.
