Homegrown journalism has a very positive community impact. It is inexpensive to consume, but expensive to produce.
We know you have a lot of worthy choices when it comes to making your community donations. We hope that, as a reader, you’ll demonstrate the value we add to your life by choosing The Mountain-Ear for a donation or sponsorship.
The Mountain-Ear is a trusted source of local news for our community. And right now, that is more important than ever. We have an opportunity I hope you will consider.
The Colorado Media Project has pledged a $5,000 challenge grant to us to help us inspire our community to support homegrown Journalism with philanthropic donations. For every dollar we raise from the community up to $5,000, the challenge fund will match it!
We would like to add to that challenge fund, grow it beyond $5,000, and inspire more of our community to support local news coverage. Would you consider making a donation to our challenge fund?
I would be happy to have a conversation to share details of this plan and how you might play a role in making sure our community has trustworthy, factual, local reporting on issues that matter.
I’d love to discuss what you love about the paper, what you hate, what you would like us to change. Which stories make you smile.
We launched our year-end matching grant fundraising campaign today! The #newsCOneeds matching grant link is here bit.ly/support-the-mountain-ear.
The Mountain-Ear is committed to changing things up a bit in 2022. You will see a BIG, BRIGHT, beautiful paper at 32 pages, darn near every week of the entire year. You will see new design ideas, new website ideas, new journalists, columnists, photographers, and MORE!
And, we’re always looking for people to join our team. Paid or volunteer, we have a dream that is coming to realization this year and things are only going to get better (and better, and better).
And of course, you’ll continue to see the (up to) 40 contributors that make this paper happen. Every. Single. Week.
It’s been a labor of love for a long time. And we are committed to keeping it up!
We’ve recently added investigative journalists to the staff. And marketing folks. And designers (more coming). And we’re expanding our Podcast. And we’re looking for more high school interns.
We do this because we love to bring YOU the news you want, created by locals, for locals.
We are YOUR community newspaper, dedicated to covering the news of the entire Peak to Peak region, since 1977.
