I have just a short personal column this week, to make space for a small story that came in.
As many of you know, The Mountain-Ear has two offices. One is in Gilpin County. The second is located inside Brightwood Music, in Nederland.
A few months ago, our business neighbor, Roz Bagtaz, had a brilliant idea to support all the businesses in the shopping center by hosting a monthly event. Sevreal businesses got together and planned the first one. I thought it was a smashing success. See the story here: www.themtnear.com/ articles/caribou-village-hosts-4th- friday-event/
This week we are gearing up for the next 4th Friday at Caribou Village Shopping Center. Last night I worked on updating an ad to promote the event, which will be Friday, June 24, 2022. This month, neighbors agreed to have a Chalk Art contest. I can only imagine how cool it will be! We will hand out chalk and have a few areas designated to create art! Here is a cool article about Chalk Art: www.goodhousekeeping.com/home/craft- ideas/g32266524/chalk-art-ideas/.
I hope to see lots of folks out there creating!
In the meantime, I welcome your thoughtful letters, comments and ideas. I’ll be out all weekend once again hosting News & Brews events to gather information on what is important to YOU, in YOUR community newspaper. And in your community as a whole. Watch The Mountain-Ear Facebook or my personal page for info on locations and times.
And, if you have any story idea about any topic, pitch it to us. If you have an event that needs covered, send it in. A music promotion or school sports story we missed? We are here for you!
The Mountain-Ear is YOUR community newspaper, covering all of the news you love in the entire Peak to Peak region, since 1977. As always my door is open (in Nederland and Black Hawk), my phone is on and my email gets checked regularly. Contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 303-810-5409.
