After sitting vacant since the closing of the Black Forest Restaurant, the building at 24 Big Springs Drive, Nederland, is being revived by Tebo Properties of Boulder.
An aesthetically pleasing stone-faced retaining wall is being built by the street. Next to the wall the city will be installing a sidewalk and off-street parking serving Caribou Village Shopping Center.
The parking lot in front of the old Black Forest will be raised, reducing the daunting 18 stair entrance to six steps. The handicapped will access the front door via a ramp instead of having to use the rear entrance as used to be the case. The work is being completed by Dillon Developers (Heath Dillon 303.588.4045).
Currently the massive interior is for lease. Stephen Tebo envisions the space as a restaurant on the right as you walk through the door and a Pilates/yoga studio on the left. Once tenants have been selected, renovations inside will be suited to the renters’ needs.
The Tebo Development Company takes pride in the communities where they work and giving back to those communities. In a prime location, with beautiful woodwork and old-world charm, it will be nice to see the building in use again. An opening is projected for February, 2022.
