How to Place an Obituary

Click Here to Submit an Obituary Online

After your loved one passes away, you have so many contractual details to deal with, like home, finances, burial and funeral arrangements, the last thing you want to think about is placing an obituary in your local paper, but doing so is very important. A published obituary can be used in many cases with insurance companies and creditors to help prove the official death of a loved one, as well as letting all of your neighbors, friends and loved ones know of the passing in an efficient manner.

Although this may seem like an insurmountable task, The Mountain-Ear can help. We have a simple form to help you get started. We can put it all together into a story format for you. The cost to place an obituary is $25. That includes a photo and 750 words. Need an extended obituary? No problem. We can do that too. We can help make the process as simple as possible, for you and your family. To get your forms, more information and to see examples of published obituaries, please email publisher@themountainear.com.

Ned Gravel builds on success of diversity and inclusivity

Ned Gravel, a Colorado gravel bike race that proactively encourages diversity and inclusion on the starting line, is proud to announce the race will return to Nederland, Colorado in summer of 2022.

With race day scheduled for July 9, Ned Gravel offers courses designed for everyone, from the 20 mile beginner-friendly Silver Course, to the more challenging 40 mile Gold and 60 mile Tungsten Courses, to the new 107 mile Ultra Course. A challenge for even the fittest of athletes, the new Ultra Course tops out at 10,500’ and includes over 13,000’ of climbing. All courses start in the eclectic mountain town of Nederland, Colorado.

Ned Gravel was founded out of a passion for riding bikes, exploring the amazing area we live in and sharing that with everyone. From the very beginning we have sought to bring diversity and inclusion to bike racing. Gravel riding is changing the cycling world and we are proud to play a small part in that by creating space for women and BIPOC athletes. Ned Gravel was launched in 2020 by Peak to Peak Endurance, an all-inclusive retreat and event planning organization.
